Background

Digital technology has emerged as a vital accelerator for the sustainable development of agriculture. E-commerce has been proved to be an effective solution and new driver to address the developmental challenges, revitalize the rural economy, and create more job opportunities. The World Food Program Centre of Excellence in China is organizing a webinar series on E-commerce for Rural Value Chain Development, targeting policy and decision makers in agriculture departments, relevant technical staffs, and key smallholder farmers in developing countries. The webinar will be delivered in 4 episodes, every Monday  8:00pm – 9:30pm Beijing time / 8:00am – 9:30am New York time, starting from 29 June.

The webinar will provide an opportunity for in-depth communication on how e-commerce contributes to agriculture and rural transformation, fostering rural entrepreneurship and the overarching goal of eradicating hunger and inequality in order to achieving SDGs.  The webinar will be  an open online event. Participants interested in E-commerce for smallholder support, and rural value chain development policy are invited to join the webinar.
