Martha Santos is a UNICEF staff member managing the South-South cooperation portfolio at UNICEF Headquarters in New York. She has over 20 years of work experience in UNICEF and UNAIDS in locations including Lusaka, Maputo, and Geneva. Prior to joining the UN, she has worked as researcher for an agricultural institute in Manila. Ms. Santos also spent a short period of time as a mathematics instructor.

In Geneva, Ms. Santos was the Partnerships Manager in the UNICEF the Regional Office Europe and Central Asia, responsible for strengthening strategic partnerships, capacity building and knowledge generation and sharing, and support to resource mobilization. At UNAIDS, she served as a technical expert on children and young people. Prior to her appointment in Geneva, Ms. Santos was Education Project Officer in UNICEF Zambia and was responsible for the development, implementation and management of the UNICEF-supported project on girls’ education. She also had a short assignment with UNAIDS as Technical Adviser.

Ms. Santos is a national of the Philippines.
