ILO Training Course (Spanish & Portuguese): Disaster Risk Reduction and Local Economic Development, 01 July – 20 December 2020

The International Training Center of the ILO (ITC-ILO) has started an online course on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Local Economic Development. The course will share knowledge on how to fully integrate DRR tools in processes of local development, preparing, responding and recovering from disasters. Participants during the training will get the opportunity to share their experiences in DRR. The training will have a cross-cutting module on South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) which aims to demonstrate how to best make use of SSTC instruments for peer-learning and knowledge-sharing on DRR and local development. Participants will take part in seven webinars to exchange their experiences, a special South-South event and will contribute to the collection and dissemination of DRR good practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation.

Objective of the course

The objective of this course is to help strengthen the capacities of local actors to integrate disaster risk reduction into local development processes. The course proposes the study of theoretical concepts and the elaboration of practical tools in the field of prevention, preparations, reconstruction, climate change and strategic planning for local development.

Eligible participants

The course is intended for technicians, managers and heads of public and private institutions that participate in local development processes and disaster risk reduction as an integral part of local development processes.
