A SOUTH-SOUTH AND TRIANGULAR COOPERATION (SSTC) INITIATIVE BETWEEN LEBANON, JORDAN, TURKEY, EGYPT, IRAQ AND ETHIOPIA
The Knowledge Sharing Event focuses to share what are the good practices in the inclusion of refugees and displaced persons in the labour market with a humanitarian-development nexus. Participants to the event will be Government officials, ILO’s social partners and development practitioners working in Ethiopia, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq and Turkey.
The South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) is ideal for fostering exchange of knowledge and experiences amongst the concerned countries, and for forging cooperation in crisis responses. The event will allow ILO to promote a more coherent approach to the promotion of decent work in crisis settings, in line with ILO’s Guiding Principles on the Access of Refugees and other Forcibly Displaced Persons to the Labour Market; ILO’s Jobs for Peace and Resilience Flagship Programme and implementation of the Recommendation 205 on Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience.

Government officials, ILO’s social partners and development practitioners working with refugees and displaced persons in Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Ethiopia, Egypt and Turkey.
Through a regional dialogue workshop of two days, participants will strengthen their knowledge in:
- ILO’s Recommendation 205 on Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience and how it is applied in practice (from theory to practice)
- Guiding principles on the access of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons to the labour market
- Compliances with decent work conditions
- Good practices in the promotion of decent work in the construction and agriculture sectors
- Good practices in the promotion of decent work through (i) policy advocacy, (ii) Employment intensive investment programme, (iii) Employment public services, (iv) Skills for refugees and displaced persons, (v) Private sector development and entrepreneurship, (vi) Social security schemes and (vii) Access to legal support services for refugees and displaced persons and digital solutions
- Roles of social partners in designing and implementing employment-driven responses for peace and resilience
- Good practices by UN Agencies supporting the promotion of decent work for refugees and displaced persons – Leaving no One Behind.
