On 1 and 2 August, ESCWA in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt organized a “Social Protection Peer-Exchange Meeting: Effective Implementation of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programmes”. The meeting brought together governmental experts in social protection from the Arab region, along with their counterparts from Turkey and Chile.

The meeting was an opportunity for participants to deep-dive into good global practices and lessons learned on CCT implementation and to review selected CCT experiences from the region as well as Turkey and Chile.

Discussions revolved around effective monitoring and evaluation of beneficiaries’ compliance with conditionalities as well as the evolving roles and challenges social workers play in the effectiveness of CCT implementation.
