10 September 2020: During a virtual high-level event held in commemoration of the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation, the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC)  launched the third volume of its flagship publication, ‘Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development’. The new volume features around 200 good practices presented by nearly 80 partners, including Member States, United Nations agencies, intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), and other development partners.

Building on two prior highly successful editions, the 2020 volume significantly expands the South-South knowledge base across all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting innovation, and the greater diversity of partners who are leveraging South-South and triangular collaboration for development. This collection of good practices demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, peer-to-peer learning and collective efforts among countries and partners in order to address development challenges that would be difficult to tackle independently; and inspires how concrete solutions can be adapted and replicated in a wider geography.

In his keynote speech, H.E. Mr. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, President of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly, welcomed the launch of the publication. He emphasized that such publications remain a great source of peer learning and knowledge-sharing..

Mr. Jorge Chediek, Director of UNOSSC and Envoy of the Secretary General on South-South Cooperation emphasized that the main goal of this publication series is to not only expand and make available the knowledge base on collaborative development solutions in the South, but also to deepen partnerships and create new opportunities for further collaboration among Southern countries and their development partners.

During the event, many Member States expressed their appreciation to UNOSSC on the publication which showcases how South-South and triangular cooperation is being leveraged to support the efforts of countries to accelerate the progress towards the attainment of the 17 SDGs.

All development solutions identified in the Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development publication series are now available on the South-South Galaxy platform to further facilitate knowledge exchanges and partnerships between  Southern partners.
