Launched in 2020, the Reverse Linkage Project between Mauritania and Tunisia on Platform Development for Mobile-based Financial Services for the benefit of the Mauritanian Post Office, is part of ongoing South-South cooperation efforts facilitated by the  Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

On 8 December 2022, in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the initial commissioning phase of the project has come to an end. In the presence of the representatives of all the stakeholders of the project, namely, the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT), the Tunisian Post, IsDB and the Mauritanian Post, the Baridcash Platform was officially launched.

This project, which fits perfectly into both Mauritania’s digitization strategy and Sustainable Development Goal 1 (No Poverty), will provide its citizens with access to electronic payment services and open up new horizons for the economy of the country.

It is important to salute the efforts of the team of experts from the Tunisian Post, the Mauritanian Post and the coordination team from the ATCT and the IsDB, which enabled the project to become a reality and a success likely to be reproduced in other countries, particularly in the global South, within the framework of South-South and triangular cooperation.
