Call for Submissions: Good Practices on SSC & TrC for Sustainable Development

Ms. Xiaojun Grace Wang, Deputy Director, United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation

The sharing of knowledge and experiences has become one of the most important and dynamic pillars of South-South and triangular cooperation.  It has gained prominence among developing countries who are increasingly recognizing good practices on South-South and triangular cooperation as viable pathways to address common transnational challenges and to accelerate progress in the achievement of the SDGs.   Such exchanges have been cost-effective and easily adaptable.  In BAPA+40 outcome document, it acknowledges the importance of sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices on South-South and triangular cooperation in the attainment of sustainable development and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

To build on this momentum, the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), along with Member States, UN agencies, and other development partners will once again develop a compendium of “Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development” which will feature initiatives that contribute to the achievement of SDGs while illustrating the central tenets of effective South-South and triangular cooperation.  Such a compilation will further enrich and enlarge the database on existing South-South and triangular good practices for all Southern partners to benefit from.

With the recent novel Coronavirus outbreak, the learning and sharing of good practices is more important than ever to help us address collective challenges. Thus, we encourage you to also share your good practices on the management of public health issues.  Through South-South knowledge sharing and learning we will be better prepared to address such challenges.

Join us in sharing your solutions, experiences and good practices and let us collectively work together to eliminate the barriers in accessing knowledge and information. The idea that no country is so poor that it has nothing to share, and no country so rich it has nothing to learn, rings truer today than it ever did.

Looking forward to your submissions and working together to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs through South-South and triangular cooperation.
