South-South Galaxy provides developing countries and development partners access to high-quality advisory services on the application of knowledge to bolster their capacities in the context of the implementation of Agenda 2030.
This is conducted through a people-centered development through an integrated approach that links policy with planning and programming, for promoting results-based management, instating social and environmental safeguards, monitoring and evaluating impact and equally learning from failures and successes. Support is provided through an expanded list of thematic experts.
Needs assessment is crucial to implementing successful development projects. A thorough needs assessment will contribute to programme planning, improve decision making, determine the needs of the target beneficiaries; ensure that the design and implementation of any intervention can be adapted to local context; identify gaps or overlaps with other development interventions at the local level, identify funding needs and develop a monitoring and evaluation framework to determine impact.
Adaptation of Solutions
Not all solutions are one-size fits all. They, at times, require to be adapted to local context in order to ensure its design and implementation is culturally, socially and environmentally appropriate and accepted by the target beneficiaries.
To ensure that a development intervention has achieved its objective and has had a positive impact on the lives of people, impact assessment is needed to assess the successes, achievements, challenges and lessons learned. Support will be provided, upon request, to assist governments and development partners in developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks based on the principles of South-South cooperation.
