On 10 July 2023, on the occasion of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the UN, the Permanent Mission of South Africa to the UN, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) co-organized a side event on “South-South and Triangular Cooperation to Tackle the Energy and Climate Crises – Bringing Together Different Technologies to Accelerate The SDGs“.

Objectives

The side event highlighted the critical role played by South-South and Triangular Cooperation mechanisms in transferring technology and building sustainable capacity to ensure access to energy and clean water for all. Member States from different regions of the world and UN Agencies shared experiences to illustrate, with concrete examples, how South-South and Triangular Cooperation mechanisms and approaches can help bringing together complementary sources and technologies to accelerate the advancement towards the sustainable achievement of SDG 6 and SDG 7.
