Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built the third JAZARI LAB, a production, design, and try-and-do lab, within the Faculty of Engineering at the International University of Africa in Sudan.

31 March 2021 – Built as a continuation of the 3D design and 3D printing training programs organized by TİKA, the laboratory was named JAZARI LAB Khartoum after Ismail al-Jazari, who lived in the Artuqid State, the first Turkish state in Anatolia, and has been regarded by the world’s leading scientists as the “father of robotics,” in order to promote our national values and keep them alive.

In the laboratory, which was put into service for the academics, students, and external stakeholders of all the universities in the country, the devices brought from Turkey were installed, and specialists taught courses on these devices and their operating systems as part of the 10-day training program.

The training courses were attended by academics from the International University of Africa and the Karary Military University in Sudan, as well as technicians from the Sudan-Turkey Vocational and Technical Training Center.

“We are dreaming of launching dual-degree programs between the two countries.”

The opening and certificate presentation ceremony of the JAZARI LAB was attended by İrfan Neziroğlu, Turkey’s Ambassador to Khartoum; Prof. Hunud Abia Kadouf, Rector of the International University of Africa; Prof. Sharief Babiker, Director of Africa City of Technology; Bilal Özden, TİKA’s Khartoum Coordinator; academics; and university students.

In his speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Neziroğlu said, “Today, we are proud and happy to deliver a very modern laboratory as a gift to the International University of Africa in Sudan, thanks to the contribution of TİKA. We will sign a memorandum of understanding between the universities of the two countries much more actively. We should launch student and academic staff exchange programs between Turkey and Sudan. We are dreaming of launching dual-degree programs between the two countries.”

“I hope everyone can benefit from Turkey’s experience.”

Prof. Hunud Abia Kadouf, Rector of the International University of Africa, said, “We are ready to sign agreements with all universities in Turkey. We are open to the exchange of students and academic staff and the sharing of experience, and we want to improve our cooperation.” Noting that they benefited greatly from Turkey’s experience, Kadouf said, “I hope everyone can benefit from Turkey’s experience. Mr. Ambassador talked about the affection of the people of Turkey for the Sudanese people. Sympathy is reciprocal. As the Sudanese people, we love the people of Turkey very much. We are happy and proud that this laboratory was built without expecting anything in return. We would like to thank TİKA and the instructors who came here and taught courses in this hot weather. The doors of our lab will always be open. All universities, private sector, and entrepreneurs will be able to benefit from this project 24/7.”

At the end of the speeches, certificates were presented to the trainees who participated in the training organized by TİKA, and the lab was inaugurated. The JAZARI LAB project aims to contribute to the economic and social development of countries and offer design-based jobs.
